Hope of Caiaphas

Lazarus did rise from the grave

It was seen by family friends

Some Hebrews put their faith in Christ

Death need not be the end

Pharisee leaders soon found out

Yes their stature was fleeting

What were they so prone to do?

Summon folks for a meeting

Their power and authority

Was fragile in the shadow of Rome

Chief priests, elders, and plenty more

Set to fight for their own throne

The high priest Caiaphas prophesied

For anyone Christ would die

The nation was at a turning point

Israel’s hope was in his eye

Both peers and subjects rejected him

To that priest they failed to submit

Determined to kill the healing man

Execution became their fit

Discreet in His interactions

Near a desert north of Bethany

No move for the Passover cleansing

Jesus had no such need

Water to Wine in a Cleansing Jar

A Hebrew wedding was truly grand

Start at night and roll all day

Food and music kept flowing on

Near the end people hoped to stay

Oh so many people there

Israelites from far and wide

Honoring the marital bliss

Celebrate love side by side

A bad problem then did hit

An insult to the groom and bride

No more wine was to be had

Against the family some might chide

Mary told her eldest son

There is a need for some new wine

Jesus wanted to hold off

His glory was to come in time

Mary took a mom’s prerogative

Mary gave a mom’s demand

Do whatever my son doth say

Christ then gave a soft command

With water fill the cleansing jars

Staff filled them right up to the brim

The banquet head got a taste

New wine was there right up to the brim

There at the start of His ministry

Christ did that wonder in Galilee

Still a symbol for both you and me

Of His blood cleansing on Calvary

A Bold Testimony

A man was miraculously transformed

Unintimidated was he

Pharisees were set on legislation

They struggled with Scripture interpretation

Front and center the man testified

Not knowing Jesus was the Son

Jesus put mud over his eyes

Told him to wash, and then - surprise!

Division came among the Pharisees

Plus Christ had healed on the Sabbath

Not gaining answers they expected

They summoned his parents, quite unexpected

The parents said indeed he was born blind

Then they left it at that

Once again they summoned the witness

Telling him that Jesus was not sinless

The man gave a response to them all:

“I was blind but now I see!”

From there the man got a little sassy

Yet what he said was really classy

Out of the meeting he was thrown

Yet Christ did not leave it at that

Jesus asked him about the Son of Man

Then Jesus said He is the Son of Man

The man responded, “Lord, I believe”

Then he worshiped Christ

His testimony stands to this day

May it help us to walk in the Way
